When Lok and Sophie accidentally break a statue that belonged to Lok's father, they find an Amulet and a journal hidden inside.

Before they can act, they're attacked by Organization Suits. They split up and are thrown into an exciting chase across Venice, down backstreets, across canals, and even on the rooftops. Lok escapes, and has a moment to look at the journal. He finds information on Prague and the Golem myth. After failing to capture Lok, DeFoe throws caution to the wind and orders his men to use their Titans. With no way to defend himself, Lok escapes when his latent power interacts with the Amulet from his father and gives him temporary Power-like power, such as enhanced speed and jumping. Unfortunately, the journal is damaged during the chase. Following Sophie's advice from before, Lok tries to find the local private eye, Dante. Lok gets his address from a phone book, but he is cornered before he can reach his office.
