A superb film made in 1986, just as Mr. Miyazaki was beginning his climb to international fame as the leading anime creator in Japan, it tells the fascinating story of Pazu and Sheeta and their search for the fabled floating city of Laputa, the remnant of an ancient civilization. Laputa is one of the most well-written and animated films to come out of Japan in the 1980s, and it left its mark on the face of the anime world in general.
