Stocking Item - Usually Ships Within 24-48 Hours Unless Backordered On March 11, 2011, Japan's Tohoku coastal region was destroyed by a 9.0 magnitude earthquake and devastating tsunami. Pray For Japan focuses on the real-life heroes who fought on behalf of their loved ones and their hometown. The film focuses on four key perspectives of the tragedy: school, shelter, family, and volunteers. We meet victims who faced significant obstacles and fought to overcome them. Through these four vantage points, the audience is able to understand the vast ramifications of the large-scale natural disaster‚ and the battle these real-life heroes fought (and continue to fight) on behalf of their loved ones and their hometown.
Filmmaker Stu Levy, an American living in Japan, filmed the tsunami aftermath during his trips to Tohoku as a volunteer. Principal photography happened over 6 weeks, where over 50 hours of footage was captured. A return trip captured a few more hours, which was incorporated into the film while editing was in full swing. The result is a feature-length documentary that allows the people who experienced an unprecedented disaster to speak in their own words about their experiences. Note: Pray For Japan is printed on BD-R discs. BD-R discs are compatible with most Blu-ray players. |
